Cllr Janet Finch-Saunders AM, Shadow Minister for Local Government, officially opened Caffi CAIS last Thursday at the Mostyn Broadway Coach Park, Llandudno.

As well as providing much needed catering, retail and visitor information facilities to visitors, local shoppers and workers; Caffi CAIS provides paid training opportunities for individuals who are recovering from substance misuse.

CAIS began working on establishing the Caffi in Autumn last year and gained support for their bid from WCVA. The Caffi is used to provide paid work experience and training for up to 24 CAIS clients over the next year. They will be closely supported by CAIS Peer Mentors and can lead to real work opportunities in the future.

Janet said: “Labour have said that the Big Society would fail young people in need of employment, but Caffi CAIS is a fantastic example of the opportunities being created by community enterprises. I would like to offer my congratulations to Clive Wolfendale and to CAIS for their enterprise and community spirit.

“I am incredibly proud to have opened the Caffi and I look forward to seeing it grow and become a firm favourite amongst both visitors and locals.”

Janet also congratulated her colleague Mark Isherwood AM on his appointment as Shadow Minister for North Wales, Communities and Housing. Janet said: “I am delighted for Mark and for the people of North Wales. The creation of this role shows dedication by the Welsh Conservatives to effectively serving the North Wales region which can sometimes feel neglected by the Welsh Labour Government in Cardiff. As Shadow Minister for Local Government, I wholeheartedly welcome the further representation North Wales now has in the National Assembly for Wales.”
