Janet Finch-Saunders, Assembly Member for Aberconwy, today met with the Minister for Health and Social Services, Lesley Griffiths AM, together with Cllr Linda Groom and Cllr Carol Marubbi of Llandudno Hospital Action Group to discuss concerns surrounding the future of the hospital’s services.

Healthcare in North Wales faces undergoing some serious changes if Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board’s proposals, currently under consultation, go ahead.

Janet said: "Over the years, Llandudno hospital has seemed to bear the brunt of budgetary cuts and downgrading, going from a 24-hour A&E service to a day care MIU in a matter of years.

"Additionally, changes which have come to light recently have done so whilst the consultation on changes to health care services across North Wales is on-going, and I do not feel that this is right.

"Furthermore, I was surprised that there were several proposals for changes to Llandudno Hospital that the Minister herself was unaware of, which highlights the real need for BCUHB to ensure full transparency at all times.

"The meeting today was a good opportunity for the Llandudno Hospital Action Group and myself to air some of the concerns that are held about the future of Llandudno Hospital to the Minister. I am pleased with the dialogue we have established and fully intend to continue to hold both the Minister and BCUHB to account for their actions – they must listen to the voices of the public."

Janet and the Group also expressed concerns regarding proposals to move all neonatal intensive care in North Wales to Arrowe Park Hospital on the Wirral.
