Janet Finch-Saunders, Assembly Member for Aberconwy, has commented on the decision of the Post Office to relocate its Llandudno branch from Vaughan Street into the WHSmith store on Mostyn Street. Mrs Finch-Saunders AM said:
“Having previously written in to raise my own concerns and those of many of my constituents, I am most disappointed and dismayed at this decision following the consultation on this matter. I am aware of a considerable number of people, myself included, who made objections to this proposal, and know that for many of my constituents this will be considered a retrograde step.
“Even visitors to Llandudno have raised their concerns, especially those who have seen such a downgrade in their own town, and I shall be looking into how this decision has been made.
“In taking this step, it is imperative that the Post Office ensures that there is no impact on service provision to customers, after so many years of wonderful service at the Vaughan Street site.
“Opening hours, services available, and accessibility must be at the forefront of the Post Office’s concerns in relation to this decision and, whilst I regret that it has gone this way, I sincerely hope that the move to the new site is smooth, with minimum disruption to staff and services. The hard working and loyal staff, who have served the Post Office well for many years, must be considered an integral part of this move.”
