Yesterday, all Welsh Conservative amendments to the British Sign Language (Wales) Bill, tabled and brought forward by Mark Isherwood MS, were agreed. This is a fantastic achievement for Mark Isherwood, who has served in the Senedd for 23 years.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, welcomed the amendments to the Bill and paid tribute to the work and commitment of Mark Isherwood MS for the North Wales region.

“First of all, I would like to echo the comments made by Rhys ab Owen. This Member’s Bill is the fifth Bill in the history of Welsh devolution and is a piece of legislation that will make a significant difference to the deaf community in Wales.
“This Bill will promote the use of British Sign Language in Wales and will impose various new duties on Welsh Ministers and certain public bodies. All of this will help to remove the barriers that exist for deaf people and their families.
“In addition to this, I would also like to pay tribute to the hard work, passion, and dedication that Mark has shown not only towards this vital Bill but throughout his whole time here in the Senedd.
“Mark has been a pillar of knowledge and someone you can turn to for support. The way he has served the people of North Wales has made a significant impact and has improved their lives. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mark for all of his work and wish him and his family the very best for the future.”
