Red wharf

Red Wharf Bay Vineyard is an independent micro-vineyard situated in the Traeth Coch Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Ynys Môn.

The vineyard currently produces two wines: a white made from the Solaris grape, and red made from the Rondo grape.

The vineyard’s principal offer is tours which include tasting, a history of how the site was developed, and how Mr Kevin Mawdesley chose Ynys Môn over Spain.

Commenting after visiting the vineyard, Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Climate Change and the Environment, said:

“The diversity of our local environment is absolutely remarkable, as is proven by the fact that vines are being successfully grown in Pentraeth.

“Red Wharf Bay Vineyard is a labour of love. Kevin’s commitment to maintaining the site and producing grapes that contribute to making beautiful wine is to be applauded.

“With fantastic views of the Bay, there really is nowhere better to relax and taste the fruit of the vine”.

Mae Red Wharf Bay Vineyard yn ficro-winllan annibynnol wedi'i lleoli yn Ardal o Harddwch Naturiol Eithriadol Traeth Coch, Ynys Môn.

Plannwyd rhai gwinwydd yn 2010 ond mae'r mwyafrif ohonyn nhw, a blannwyd yng ngwanwyn 2016, yn dal i aeddfedu. Ar hyn o bryd mae'r winllan yn cynhyrchu dau win: gwyn wedi'i wneud o'r grawnwin Solaris, a choch wedi'i wneud o'r grawnwin Rondo.

Prif gynnig y winllan yw teithiau sy'n cynnwys blasu’r gwin, tipyn o hanes datblygu’r safle, a sut y dewisodd Mr Kevin Mawdesley Ynys Môn yn hytrach na Sbaen.

Gan roi ei sylwadau ar ôl ymweld â'r winllan, dywedodd Janet Finch-Saunders AS, Ysgrifennydd Cabinet yr Wrthblaid dros Newid Hinsawdd a'r Amgylchedd:

"Mae amrywiaeth ein hamgylchedd lleol yn gwbl ryfeddol, fel y gwelwn ni o’r gwinwydd sy’n cael eu tyfu'n llwyddiannus ym Mhentraeth.

"Mae Red Wharf Bay Vineyard yn llafur cariad. Mae ymrwymiad Kevin i gynnal a chadw'r safle a chynhyrchu grawnwin sy’n cyfrannu at wneud gwin hyfryd i'w gymeradwyo.

"Gyda golygfeydd gwych o'r Bae, does dim lle gwell i ymlacio a blasu ffrwyth y winwydden".
