In a positive update for the local community, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy – Janet Finch-Saunders MS – has welcomed the news that Wales has surpassed the million first-dose milestone, with the BCUHB region having administered 271,037 total doses as of 7 March 2021.
With the vaccination effort "firing on all cylinders", yesterday, Mrs Finch-Saunders again urged the Welsh Government to provide a roadmap out of lockdown so that local businesses may begin necessary preparations.
Celebrating the local vaccination effort, Janet said:
“The news that the local vaccination effort continues to drive ahead will be most welcoming to residents throughout Aberconwy, with the resolve of our local health and social care workers, volunteers and armed forces remaining true. As I have said before, they are a testament to their profession and I thank them all.
“In their latest update, BCUHB have made clear that they have now provided a first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine to 84% of people aged 65-69 and almost a third of people aged 16-65 with underlying health conditions. This is fantastic news that is most beneficial in our push for a reopening roadmap.
“Crucially, with the UK-wide vaccination programme continuing to fire on all cylinders, BCUHB are due to witness a significant increase in supply of the AstraZeneca vaccine, accelerating the vaccination rollout across their network of primary care partners. This is yet further proof that Wales is stronger when we work in tandem with our UK partners.
“This roll-out stands as a clear indication that Aberconwy wants desperately to bounce back stronger – the First Minister must now empower local residents by providing a clear roadmap to recovery. Of course, I will continue to push for urgent clarity from Cardiff Bay on any planned next steps."
