Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Senedd for Bangor, Conwy and Môn, who has long championed improvements to broadband in Llandudno, has written to Vodafone asking for an update on the installation of the masts on top of Venue Cymru.
Thomas Sheppard from Vodafone commented:
“There are a small number of site-specific matters still being managed, including the previously identified issue relating to nesting birds and a further requirement to amend the proposed antenna position. The team is confident that the antenna issue can be resolved, although there remain dependencies on the agent and landlord which need to be managed appropriately.
“Given the importance of progressing the site as quickly as possible, the team will make every effort to accelerate delivery and, where circumstances allow, bring this forward to completion by early next year. While we cannot commit to specific dates at present, the team is confident that mobilisation can take place quickly once the remaining dependencies are resolved.
“We will continue to monitor progress closely and push for opportunities to bring delivery forward wherever possible.”
Janet responded:
“It is vital that these challenges are urgently addressed, as residents, visitors and businesses alike are struggling with poor broadband in the area. With businesses unable to make transactions, doctors unable to receive phone calls. Mostyn Estates has worked closely with me on this. The delivery and delays are now down to Vodafone.”
Janet added:
“It is becoming increasingly important that our broadband is strengthened, as companies are starting to phase out landlines. We cannot afford for our residents and communities to feel cut off.”
Furthermore she said:
“I will continue to call on Vodafone to address these problems and deliver the masts urgently.”
