Trafalgar Sunday marks the victory of Lord Nelson’s fleet over the combined Spanish and French forces at the Battle of Trafalgar on October 21st, 1805. It also offers us an opportunity to remember all those who lost their lives at sea during times of war and peace.
This year’s service takes place on Sunday, 19th October, at 11:30am, at Llandudno War Memorial.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, commented:
“The Trafalgar Sunday service is a wonderful and poignant event that gives us the opportunity to remember all the brave servicemen in the Navy who have lost their lives at sea, protecting the many freedoms we enjoy today. It is also an opportunity to think of and extend our gratitude to those currently serving.
“The Navy plays a vital role in our nation’s security, and services like this offer us the chance to reflect on that and on the important history of the Navy, including the victory of Lord Nelson’s fleet.
“I strongly encourage people to attend the service, and I would like to thank all those who have helped to arrange and organise this event.”
