Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy was delighted to attend the commemorative Remembrance Service in Llandudno on Sunday.

Thousands attended the service which saw a parade, led by Cllr Michael A Pearce, Mayor, march to the cenotaph with wreaths and poppies laid by local dignitaries, authorities, services, veterans, schools and serving personnel.

The service saw both National Anthems led by singer and actress Annmarie Munroe.

The parade was organised by Adrian Hughes of the Royal British Legion and it was followed by a moving church service at the Holy Trintiy Church, led by Reverand Vince Morris, and with readings from local community leaders and a tribute by Adrian Hughes.

Commenting on the day Janet said:

“It was an extremely sobering event. We came together as a community to show our respect and to honour the sacrifices of countless brave men and women who gave their lives for our freedom.

“Across Wales, many of us will have taken part in ceremonies surrounded by symbols of remembrance—the poppies, wreaths, and solemn silence—serving as powerful reminders of the profound cost of war and the lasting legacy of courage.

“None of this would be possible without the tireless work of organisations, individuals and volunteers, and my heart goes out to Llandudno’s Royal British Legion and Town Council for such a moving service.

“80 and 110 years ago, a generation of ordinary people displayed extraordinary courage. Some served on distant battlefields, while others laboured on the home front, all united to protect liberty, justice, and peace.

“On this day, and always, we will remember them.”
