Following the announcement that the Welsh Government has committed to delivering a third crossing, Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Bangor, Conwy and Môn, who has been actively campaigning for a third crossing, commented:
“We have seen the significant negative impacts that the frequent closures of the Menai Bridge have had, including significant congestion and delays on the Britannia Bridge, as well as local businesses reporting a decrease in footfall as a result.
Janet continued:
“The creation of a third crossing will help ensure that traffic to and from the island continues to flow, while providing us with more resilient transport infrastructure.
She added:
“I was pleased that the Welsh Government has committed to delivering a third crossing, particularly as my public meeting in June highlighted the strong level of support for its creation.
“It is vital that this crossing is made a priority, and I will continue to work with the Deputy Minister for Transport to ensure that a fully funded and deliverable plan to create the crossing is put in place as soon as possible.”
