Reacting to the Tawel Fan report, Janet Finch-Saunders, AM for Aberconwy said:
“To say I am shocked at the outcome of this report is an understatement, and I know many have already questioned its independence from the Welsh Government.
“Those affected by the infamous incidents at Tawel Fan will rightly be questioning how and why this investigation took so long to report, and yet allegedly could not find evidence to substantiate the appalling findings of the Ockenden Report which led to the ward’s closure.
“The original scandal actually paved the way for the Welsh Government taking the Health Board into special measures, and it is utterly beyond belief that those devastatingly tragic and awful stories which emerged from Tawel Fan over four years ago have not been substantially addressed.
“Families of those affected, who will have already been through hell and back, will be left with more questions than answers, once more, and if the Welsh Government thinks it can now wash its hands of this matter, it is sorely mistaken.”
