Janet Finch-Saunders AM, Welsh Conservative Shadow Cabinet Secretary for Local Government, has praised the hard work of candidates in the local government elections.

The Welsh Conservatives increased their number of Councillors on Conwy County Borough Council from 13 to 16.

Janet said:

“The hard work and dedication of these candidates in campaigning across their wards is commendable.

“Our message on the doorstep – cutting back on waste, putting an end to annual 5% council tax increases, and reinstating fortnightly bin collections – has really resonated with residents across the County.

“People want greater democratic accountability and scrutiny, better public services, and more say on the decisions that affect them – this what we campaigned on, and it is exactly what we intend to deliver.

“The Welsh Conservatives now have a strong group within the Council and will work hard for those they represent.

“Theresa May’s message of a strong, stable and united Britain clearly has resounded support amongst many across Conwy, and the Party is looking forward to a positive and successful General Election campaign.
