Responding to reports of older people being targeted by fraudsters, the Shadow Welsh Conservative Social Care Minister and AM for Aberconwy, Janet Finch-Saunders AM, said:
“It’s sickening that criminals are attempting to fill their pockets by exploiting the current climate.
“Police authorities are warning people to remain vigilant following a series of reported incidents.
“It’s so important that you remain vigilant, because of the apparent sophisticated approach of these fraudsters - where some have even posed as the gasman in an attempt to get into your home.
“We need to stop these fraudsters in their tracks.
“So, if you have witnessed this or are unfortunate to have fallen victim, you must report it.
“Without reporting it, police will not know the extent of the problem.”
