Transport for Wales has reported that, due to proposed engineering works between Chester and Holyhead, rail replacement services will operate for up to four weeks in January 2027.

These replacements will consist of a mix of direct express coaches and buses serving key stations along the North Wales Coast.

Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Senedd for Bangor Conwy Môn and Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy, commented:

“These proposed works are deeply concerning. Residents and visitors alike rely on the Holyhead-to-Chester service to travel across North Wales and between South and North Wales.

“The works will cause significant disruption and confusion for commuters. I am calling on Transport for Wales to ensure replacement services are frequent, reliable, and capable of meeting high passenger demand.”

Mae Trafnidiaeth Cymru wedi dweud y bydd gwasanaethau yn lle trên yn gweithredu am hyd at bedair wythnos ym mis Ionawr 2027 oherwydd gwaith peirianneg arfaethedig rhwng Caer a Chaergybi.

Bydd y gwasanaethau hyn yn cynnwys cymysgedd o fysiau cyflym uniongyrchol a bysiau sy'n gwasanaethu gorsafoedd allweddol ar hyd arfordir y Gogledd.

Meddai Janet Finch-Saunders, AS Bangor Conwy Môn a Gweinidog Cysgodol y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig dros Fenter, Cysylltedd ac Ynni:

"Mae'r gwaith arfaethedig yn peri cryn bryder. Mae trigolion ac ymwelwyr yn dibynnu ar y gwasanaeth rhwng Caergybi a Chaer i deithio ar draws y Gogledd a rhwng y De a’r Gogledd.

"Bydd y gwaith yn achosi cryn dipyn o aflonyddwch a dryswch i gymudwyr. Rwy'n galw ar Trafnidiaeth Cymru i sicrhau bod y gwasanaethau yn lle trên yn gweithredu’n aml, yn ddibynadwy ac yn gallu ateb y galw uchel gan deithwyr."
