Last Friday, Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, held a public meeting at Llandudno Town Hall. The meeting offered an excellent opportunity for residents to attend and voice their concerns.
Janet thanked residents, the Mayor, Cllr Antony Bartola, the Police, Cllr Jackie Thurley and Cllr Harry Saville for attending, commenting:
“Public meetings are a brilliant opportunity for us, as elected officials, to hear directly from our residents about the issues that are impacting them, such as anti-social behaviour, council tax increases, and poor access to GP appointments.
“Serious concerns were raised about anti-social behaviour, with residents reporting the constant smell of drugs in certain areas, and gatherings of people that cause intimidation. This is unacceptable, and the Police offered guidance on how residents can report these instances, such as though the webchat, and encouraged residents to engage with their local PCSOs.
“It is important that when residents, are concerned with anti-social behaviour, that they report it to the police. As Sargeant Cassidy rightly highlighted that it is by building a series of events, that the police are able to take more specific, informed, and direct action. So, I highly encourage you to report these instances that you witness to the police.
“This meeting also highlighted the serious issue of the backlog in business rates relief being provided to our vital holiday lets that have been able to reach the 182-day threshold. Which is leaving our hardworking businesses worse off financially, and just hoping they will get a full rebate. This should not be an experience of those who are working hard, and able to hit the targets set. This needs to be urgently addressed, and our tourism and hospitality sector must be supported, not hindered.
“I would like to thank everyone who attended the meeting, including the Mayor, Cllr Antony Bartola, Inspector Mathew Kelly-Smith, Sergeant Paul Cassidy, and Cllr Harry Saville, for attending and providing guidance and advice to our residents. It was a very successful public meeting, and I look forward to addressing the challenges raised.”

Ddydd Gwener diwethaf, cynhaliodd Janet Finch-Saunders, AS Aberconwy, gyfarfod cyhoeddus yn Neuadd y Dref Llandudno. Roedd y cyfarfod yn gyfle gwych i bobl leol fynychu a lleisio eu pryderon.
Diolchodd Janet i'r bobl leol, y Maer, y Cynghorydd Antony Bartola, yr Heddlu, y Cynghorydd Jackie Thurley a'r Cynghorydd Harry Saville am fod yn bresennol, gan ddweud:
"Mae cyfarfodydd cyhoeddus yn gyfle gwych i ni, fel swyddogion etholedig, glywed yn uniongyrchol gan ein trigolion am y materion sy'n effeithio arnynt, megis ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol, cynnydd yn y dreth gyngor a mynediad gwael at apwyntiadau meddygon teulu.
"Codwyd pryderon difrifol am ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol, gyda thrigolion yn sôn am arogl cyffuriau mewn rhai ardaloedd a chriwiau o bobl sy'n peri dychryn. Mae hyn yn annerbyniol, ac mae'r Heddlu wedi cynnig arweiniad ar sut y gall trigolion riportio'r achosion hyn, megis drwy we-sgwrs, a’u hannog i ymgysylltu â'u Swyddog Cymorth Cymunedol yr Heddlu lleol.
"Pan fydd trigolion yn pryderu am ymddygiad gwrthgymdeithasol, mae’n bwysig eu bod yn ei riportio i'r heddlu. Fel y dywedodd y Rhingyll Cassidy, y ffordd orau o sicrhau bod yr mae'r heddlu yn gallu cymryd camau mwy penodol, gwybodus ac uniongyrchol yw drwy adeiladu cyfres o ddigwyddiadau. Felly, rwy'n eich annog i riportio'r achosion hyn rydych chi'n dyst iddynt i'r heddlu.
"Tynnodd y cyfarfod hwn hefyd sylw at y mater difrifol o'r ôl-groniad mewn rhyddhad ardrethi busnes sy'n cael ei ddarparu i'n llety gwyliau hanfodol sydd wedi gallu cyrraedd y trothwy 182 diwrnod. Mae hyn yn golygu bod ein busnesau gweithgar mewn sefyllfa waeth yn ariannol, a gallaf ond obeithio y byddant yn cael ad-daliad llawn. Ni ddylai’r rhai sy’n gweithio'n galed, ac yn gallu cyrraedd y targedau a osodwyd, brofi hyn. Mae angen mynd i'r afael â hyn ar frys, a rhaid cefnogi ein sector twristiaeth a lletygarwch, nid ei rwystro.
"Hoffwn ddiolch i bawb a oedd yn bresennol, gan gynnwys y Maer, y Cynghorydd Antony Bartola, yr Arolygydd Mathew Kelly-Smith, y Rhingyll Paul Cassidy, a'r Cynghorydd Harry Saville, am fynychu a darparu arweiniad a chyngor i'n trigolion. Roedd yn gyfarfod cyhoeddus llwyddiannus iawn, ac edrychaf ymlaen at fynd i'r afael â'r heriau a godwyd."
