Welsh Conservative members in North West Wales have selected Janet Finch-Saunders to lead the Welsh Conservative list in Bangor Conwy Môn for the 2026 Senedd election. This means that Mrs Finch-Saunders, who has served as the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy since 2011, will is putting herself forward as the top Conservative candidate to represent constituents for a historic fourth term.
Janet has an extensive track record in the Welsh Parliament. She currently serves as the Shadow Minister for Climate Change and the Environment, and has previously represented the Welsh Conservative Group as Shadow Minister for Local Government from 2012 – 2018, and then as the Shadow Minister for Social Care, Children, Young People, and Older People.
Mrs Finch-Saunders has previously represented the Craig-y-Don ward on Llandudno Town Council, and Conwy County Borough Council. At the Local Authority, she sat as the Cabinet Member with overall responsibility for Community Safety, and held the roles of Chair of the Principal Scrutiny Committee and Leader of the Welsh Conservative Group. Janet is proud to be a former Mayor of Llandudno, a position held by both her parents before her.
Commenting on her re-adoption, Janet said:
“It is an honour to represent residents and use all the levers at my disposal to make a positive difference.
“From managing cases for countless residents to securing a £30m investment for a new orthopaedic unit in Llandudno Hospital; saving bus routes from the coast to the Conwy Valley; and seeing new flood alleviation measures implemented across Aberconwy, I have a long record of delivery.
“In 2026 I offer residents my willingness to continue using my experience to serve them”.

Mae aelodau'r Ceidwadwyr Cymreig yng Ngogledd Orllewin Cymru wedi dewis Janet Finch-Saunders i arwain rhestr y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig ym Mangor Conwy Môn ar gyfer etholiad y Senedd yn 2026. Mae hyn yn golygu y bydd Mrs Finch-Saunders, sydd wedi gwasanaethu fel Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy ers 2011, yn cyflwyno ei hun fel prif ymgeisydd y Ceidwadwyr i gynrychioli’r etholwyr am bedwerydd tymor hanesyddol.
Mae gan Janet brofiad helaeth yn y Senedd. Ar hyn o bryd mae'n gwasanaethu fel Gweinidog dros Newid Hinsawdd a'r Amgylchedd yr Wrthblaid, ac mae hi wedi cynrychioli Grŵp y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig fel Gweinidog dros Lywodraeth Leol yr Wrthblaid rhwng 2012 a 2018, ac yna fel y Gweinidog dros Ofal Cymdeithasol, Plant, Pobl Ifanc a Phobl Hŷn yr Wrthblaid.
Mae Mrs Finch-Saunders wedi cynrychioli ward Craig-y-Don yn flaenorol ar Gyngor Tref Llandudno, a Chyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy. Yn yr Awdurdod Lleol, eisteddodd fel yr Aelod Cabinet gyda chyfrifoldeb cyffredinol am Ddiogelwch Cymunedol, ac roedd yn Gadeirydd y Prif Bwyllgor Craffu ac yn Arweinydd Grŵp y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig. Mae Janet yn falch o fod yn gyn-Faer Llandudno, swydd a ddaliwyd gan y naill a’r llall o’i rhieni o'i blaen.
Wrth sôn am gael ei hail-ethol, dywedodd Janet:
"Mae'n anrhydedd cynrychioli trigolion a defnyddio'r holl ddulliau sydd ar gael i wneud gwahaniaeth cadarnhaol.
"O reoli achosion ar gyfer preswylwyr di-ri i sicrhau buddsoddiad o £30m ar gyfer uned orthopedig newydd yn Ysbyty Llandudno; o achub llwybrau bysiau o'r arfordir i Ddyffryn Conwy i weld mesurau lliniaru llifogydd newydd yn cael eu gweithredu ledled Aberconwy, mae gen i hanes hir o gyflawni.
"Yn 2026 rwy'n cynnig i breswylwyr fy mharodrwydd i barhau i ddefnyddio fy mhrofiad i'w gwasanaethu".
