The free Ysbyty Glan Clwyd park and ride service is to stay while a business case is put to the Welsh Government for more parking on the hospital site.  This news and the intention to maintain the service for another year has been welcomed by Janet Finch-Saunders, Assembly Member for Aberconwy, who has been leading the local campaign to save the service.

Commenting on the announcement, Janet said:

“I would like to thank Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board for the incredible service they are providing during this COVID-19 crisis.

“The pressure on the health board, from providing parking to timely treatment was already immense, so I welcome their decision to extend the park and ride arrangements again.

“As some frontline health care staff have told me, this is a little bit of good news during a terrible time.

“In the long term, I maintain that the health board should consider the options suggested to me by NHS staff and patients, such as only providing the service at peak times, or asking for a voluntary donation of £1 for a return ticket.

“Not at any point should a member of staff, patient, or visitor, be caused unnecessary stress because of on-site parking problems”.
