Pressure Grows for Pest Control on Llandudno Estate / Pwysau yn cynyddu i reoli plâu ar Stad yn Llandudno

Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has written to Conwy County Borough Council and Cartrefi Conwy raising the request of residents living at the Tre Creuddyn Estate, Llandudno, for support with pest control.

Several constituents have highlighted to the Member of the Welsh Parliament that they have sightings of rats on a regular basis around the estate but more worryingly, within their homes. There are reports of these pests within the attic void, and even living rooms, which is causing understandable distress and anxiety.

Whilst Conwy Council states online that they no longer provide a pest control service, and that residents should contact a private company, Mrs Finch-Saunders has requested that officers investigate this health and safety issue, and provide skips strategically placed around the estate.

Commenting after writing to the Local Authority and Cartrefi Conwy, Janet said:

“I have had several residents approach me raising concerns that there appears to be an infestation of rats at the Tre Creuddyn estate.

“The problem seems to be far wider than a few properties, so even if private households were to arrange for a private company to tackle the vermin in their homes, there would likely still be a problem.

“In fact, I know of constituents who have paid for pest control services, but had rats subsequently return!

“An estate wide approach is required so to help protect public health”.

Cllr Thomas Montgomery, County Councillor for Tudno Ward added:

"Since my election as a County Councillor the issue of waste management and fly tipping has been an ongoing concern for my residents.

"This issue has been compounded by this Council administration increasing charges for it's Bulky Waste service, reducing the affordability of the service for low income households across our community.

"It is clear that we need to re-think our approach to waste management to ensure that residents are enabled and empowered to dispose of their larger items and general waste in a responsible, accessible and an affordable way.”

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi ysgrifennu at Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy a Cartrefi Conwy yn rhannu cais trigolion sy'n byw ar Stad Tre Creuddyn, Llandudno, am gymorth i reoli plâu.

Mae sawl etholwr wedi dweud wrth yr Aelod o’r Senedd C eu bod yn gweld llygod mawr yn rheolaidd o amgylch y stad ond yn fwy pryderus, yn eu cartrefi. Mae yna adroddiadau bod y llygod mewn atigau pobl, ac ystafelloedd byw hyd yn oed, sy'n achosi trallod a phryder amlwg.

Tra bod Cyngor Conwy yn dweud ar-lein nad ydyn nhw bellach yn darparu gwasanaeth rheoli plâu, ac y dylai trigolion gysylltu â chwmni preifat, mae Mrs Finch-Saunders wedi gofyn i swyddogion ymchwilio i'r mater iechyd a diogelwch hwn, a darparu sgipiau wedi'u lleoli'n strategol o amgylch y stad.

Wrth wneud sylwadau ar ôl ysgrifennu at yr Awdurdod Lleol a Cartrefi Conwy, dywedodd Janet:

"Rwyf wedi cael sawl preswylydd yn dod ataf i rannu pryderon ei bod yn ymddangos bod pla o lygod mawr ar stad Tre Creuddyn.

"Mae'n ymddangos bod y broblem yn llawer ehangach nag ambell eiddo, felly hyd yn oed pe bai aelwydydd preifat yn trefnu i gwmni preifat daclo'r fermin yn eu cartrefi, mae'n debygol y byddai problem o hyd.

"Yn wir, rwy'n gwybod am etholwyr sydd wedi talu am wasanaethau rheoli plâu, dim ond i weld y llygod mawr yn dychwelyd!

"Mae angen dull gweithredu ledled y stad er mwyn helpu i ddiogelu iechyd y cyhoedd".

Ychwanegodd Thomas Montgomery, Cynghorydd Sir Ward Tudno:

"Ers i mi gael fy ethol yn Gynghorydd Sir, mae'r mater o reoli gwastraff a thipio anghyfreithlon wedi bod yn bryder parhaus i'm preswylwyr.

"Mae'r mater hwn wedi'i waethygu gan weinyddiaeth y Cyngor hwn yn cynyddu taliadau am ei wasanaeth Gwastraff Swmpus, gan leihau fforddiadwyedd y gwasanaeth ar gyfer aelwydydd incwm isel ledled ein cymuned.

"Mae'n amlwg bod angen i ni ailystyried ein dull o reoli gwastraff er mwyn sicrhau bod preswylwyr yn cael eu galluogi a'u grymuso i waredu eu heitemau mwy a'u gwastraff cyffredinol mewn ffordd gyfrifol, hygyrch a fforddiadwy."
