Ysgol Aberconwy, a Secondary School in Conwy town, has been praised for its high standards of learning and teaching.
This praise follows Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, and Darren Millar MS, the leader of the Welsh Conservatives visiting Ysgol Aberconwy. They had a wonderful time learning about the modern technology and teaching methods, as well as how the school go the extra mile to support each pupil to reach their full potential.
Commenting on the visit to Ysgol Aberconwy, Janet said:
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to Ian Gerrad, who has been the Head Teacher of Ysgol Aberconwy since 2014. His service to our community is superb!
“It was a brilliant opportunity to see the new curriculum in action, and how the immensely talented and dedicated teachers who expect the very highest of standards from all of the students, help to support and nurture each pupil to reach their full potential.
“The flourishing extra-curriculum programme, that includes a range of sporting activities in the school’s state of the art facilities, as well as musical concerts and drama productions, help each pupil reach their full potential, as well as enable them to become fully rounded members of society.
“I would also like to express my gratitude to the teachers of Ysgol Aberconwy for their hard work and dedication, as it is teachers who are vital in ensuring that the next generations are supported, educated, and able to contribute great things to society”.
Darren Millar MS, added:
“It was a real pleasure to visit Ysgol Aberconwy, an impressive school which is really delivering for its pupils.
“I was particularly impressed by the excellent facilities on offer at the school and to learn of its improvements in academic achievement.
“The dedication to excellence by the students, teachers and leadership team was clear to see and is both commendable and inspiring.
“Ysgol Aberconwy is certainly a school on the up and I applaud all staff and students for their hard work and commitment in reaching this level of success.
“The school is a real asset to the local community. It is a shining example of what can be achieved when high expectations are paired with commitment and hard work. Other schools across Wales could learn a lot from the good practice at Ysgol Aberconwy.
“I thank the school for inviting us to visit and encourage them to keep up the great work”.
