The eagerly anticipated construction of a state-of-the-art orthopaedic unit at Llandudno Hospital is fully underway. This new unit will not only help to significantly reduce the pressures on long waiting lists, but it will also mean that some pre-elective surgeries can be fast-tracked.

Last Friday, Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, and Darren Millar MS, the Leader of the Welsh Conservatives, visited the site and received a fantastic update on the progress of the construction.

Commenting on the visit to Llandudno Hospital, Janet said:

“It was a pleasure to visit the construction site of the new orthopaedics unit at Llandudno Hospital. This is something that I have been continuously campaigning for, and have raised with the First Minister Eluned Morgan, during her time as the Health Minister.

“This outstanding new facility will relieve pressures on orthopaedic services and provide a much-needed boost to local healthcare, especially at a time when 1 in 4 people in Wales are currently on a waiting list.

“I would like to thank all of the team who are part of this wonderful construction for their warm welcome, and for providing Darren Millar MS and myself with a valuable update on the site. We are looking forward to its opening in spring next year.”

Mae'r gwaith o adeiladu uned orthopedig o'r radd flaenaf yn Ysbyty Llandudno ar y gweill. Bydd yr uned newydd hon nid yn unig yn helpu i ysgafnhau'r pwysau ar restrau aros hir yn sylweddol, ond bydd hefyd yn golygu y gellir cyflymu rhai llawdriniaethau cyn-ddewisol.

Ddydd Gwener diwethaf, ymwelodd Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, a Darren Millar AS, Arweinydd y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig, â'r safle a chawsant ddiweddariad gwych ar gynnydd y gwaith adeiladu.

Gan gyfeirio at yr ymweliad ag Ysbyty Llandudno, dywedodd Janet:

"Roedd hi’n bleser ymweld â safle adeiladu'r uned orthopedig newydd yn Ysbyty Llandudno. Mae’n rhywbeth rwyf wedi bod yn ymgyrchu'n ddiflino drosto, ac wedi ei godi gyda'r Prif Weinidog Eluned Morgan, yn ystod ei chyfnod fel y Gweinidog Iechyd.

"Bydd y cyfleuster newydd rhagorol hwn yn ysgafnhau'r pwysau ar wasanaethau orthopedig ac yn rhoi hwb mawr ei angen i ofal iechyd lleol, yn enwedig ar adeg pan mae 1 o bob 4 o bobl yng Nghymru ar restr aros ar hyn o bryd.

"Hoffwn ddiolch i'r holl dîm sy'n rhan o'r gwaith adeiladu gwych hwn am eu croeso cynnes, ac am roi diweddariad gwerthfawr i Darren Millar AS a minnau ar y safle. Rydyn ni’n edrych ymlaen at weld yr uned yn agor yn ystod y gwanwyn y flwyddyn nesaf."
