Janet Finch-Saunders MS has encouraged children across Aberconwy to get their hands in the land as part of the Plant Your Pants campaign.

The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, and Shadow Minister for Climate Change, highlighted the vital role that soil plays in our ecosystem, and the need to increase public awareness on the topic.

The Plant Your Pants campaign, organised by the Country Trust, brings together families, teachers, farmers and soil scientists from all over the UK to ensure everyone understands why mud matters and the role each of us can play to protect our precious soils.

Speaking today, Janet said:

“I’m delighted to be supporting this brilliant campaign by the Country Trust.

“As Plant Your Pants highlights, soil produces 95% of our food, creates new medicines and we build from it, yet so little is generally known about it.

“Everyone can take part and together with soil scientists, teachers, families and farmers, build confidence and understanding of why healthy soil is vital to all our lives, and find out how we can all help to protect our precious soil.

“The Country Trust has a wide array of helpful resources on their website, with resource packs for parents and schools to use.

“I would urge children and parents alike right across Aberconwy to get involved, and to get your hands in the soil”!

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS wedi annog plant ledled Aberconwy i roi eu dwylo yn y pridd fel rhan o ymgyrch Plant Your Pants.

Bu’r Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, a Gweinidog Newid Hinsawdd yr Wrthblaid, yn tanlinellu rôl hanfodol pridd yn ein hecosystem, a'r angen i gynyddu ymwybyddiaeth y cyhoedd o’r pwnc.

Mae ymgyrch Plant Your Pants, a drefnir gan y Country Trust, yn dod â theuluoedd, athrawon, ffermwyr a gwyddonwyr pridd o bob rhan o'r DU ynghyd gan sicrhau bod pawb yn deall pa mor bwysig yw llaid a pha gamau y gallwn ni eu cymryd i amddiffyn ein priddoedd gwerthfawr.

Wrth siarad heddiw, dywedodd Janet:

"Rwy'n falch iawn o gefnogi'r ymgyrch wych hon gan y Country Trust.

"Fel y mae ymgyrch Plant your Pants yn ei ddangos, mae pridd yn cynhyrchu 95% o'n bwyd, mae’n creu meddyginiaethau newydd a gallwn ni ei ddefnyddio fel sail i’n hadeiladau, ond eto wyddon ni fawr ddim amdano.

"Mae cyfle i bawb gymryd rhan. Gyda’n gilydd gall gwyddonwyr pridd, athrawon, teuluoedd a ffermwyr, fagu hyder a deall pam mae pridd iach yn hanfodol i'n bywydau ni i gyd, a darganfod sut y gallwn ni i gyd helpu i warchod ein pridd gwerthfawr.

"Mae gan y Country Trust amrywiaeth eang o adnoddau defnyddiol ar eu gwefan, gyda phecynnau o adnoddau i rieni ac ysgolion eu defnyddio.

"Byddwn yn annog plant a rhieni fel ei gilydd ledled Aberconwy i gymryd rhan, ac i roi eich dwylo yn y pridd"!
