Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has spoken of her delight at the fact that Britannia Hotels are investing over £5million in refurbishing The Grand Hotel, Llandudno.
In light of concerns about the impact of The Grand Hotel on the reputation of Llandudno as the Queen of Welsh Resorts, Mrs Finch-Saunders has been corresponding with the owner, and has now undertaken a site meeting with Bob Down, Senior Operations Manager, Helen Reece, Area Manager Hotels and Holiday Parks, and Lee Jones, Director of Operations.
The team disclosed to the Member of the Welsh Parliament that the following investments are being made:
- Refurbishment of the ballroom (completed)
- Refurbishment of the 170 bedrooms (ongoing)
- £2.3million investment in upgrading the hearing system (completed)
- £3million on outside works (set to commence in March 2025)
Commenting on the major investment in the local, regional, and national tourist sector, Janet said:
“I would like to thank Britannia Hotels for listening and acting. It is truly fantastic news that over £5million is being invested in The Grand Hotel.
“I have seen first-hand some of the refurbished bedrooms rooms, the ball room, and restaurant. The team have done a brilliant job and retained the historic character of the property.
“The Grand Hotel is turning a corner, and I am proud to be the first to stand up and congratulate all involved in the massive investment being made on what is an exciting journey for the establishment, our town, and region.
“I’m looking forward to seeing the refurbished balconies, and hosting an event at the hotel in due course”.
