North Wales Police to patrol Queen’s Road following speeding concerns

Further to the Member’s letters to North Wales Police and Conwy County Borough Council last week, with regards to the need to urgently improve pedestrian safety along Queen’s Road in Craig-y-Don, Janet Finch-Saunders MS has welcomed the news that officers are to be deployed to the road. Her letters followed a socially distanced site visit to the speeding hotspot in December which was attended by local Councillors, residents, and local authority officers. Queen’s Road is one of the main road links into Llandudno, passing the busy Queen's Park Play Area.

Commenting on the update, Janet said:

“I’m incredibly pleased that North Wales police has announced that they will deploy officers to this speeding hotspot, further to my letter of concern to the organisation last week. This is a vital and positive step in the right direction that ensures that our concerns will be addressed.

“With the ongoing traffic issue presenting a real risk to the safety of young local children, my letter was clear that this concern should be treated as a priority. Their visual and reassuring presence will be most welcome by the parents who have contacted my office to raise this matter.

“I will continue to work with all stakeholders involved, including the excellent Friend of Queen’s Park group, to ensure that investment into any long-term traffic calming measures reflects the increasing usage of the outstanding park facilities.”
