The annual Countryside Alliance Awards are now open to public nomination, and Janet Finch-Saunders MS is urging the local community to get nominating.

The Countryside Alliance Awards, nicknamed the ‘Rural Oscars’, were borne of a need to support and promote rural communities. They celebrate people going the extra mile to ensure that rural Britain’s food and farming industry, small businesses, traditional skills, forward-thinking enterprises and, most of all, its people, can flourish.

The Awards run across the following categories:

  1. Local Food Award
  2. Village shop/ Post Office Award
  3. Rural Enterprise Award
  4. Butcher Award
  5. Rural Pub Award

Speaking about the Rural Oscars, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy said:

“These awards are an excellent way to promote the local businessmen and women who are working hard to keep rural Britain thriving.

“Our local produce is second to none and there are many community heroes and businesses worthy of national recognition, so please get involved and nominate today.

“Let’s see if we can bring a British title home and promote even more positive stories about Aberconwy”.

Mae Gwobrau'r Gynghrair Cefn Gwlad , neu’r 'Oscars Cefn Gwlad', yn deillio o’r angen i gefnogi a hyrwyddo cymunedau gwledig. Maen nhw’n dathlu pobl sy'n mynd y filltir ychwanegol i sicrhau y gall diwydiant bwyd a ffermio, busnesau bach, sgiliau traddodiadol a mentrau blaengar cefn gwlad Prydain ac, yn anad dim, ei phobl, ffynnu.

Cynhelir y gwobrau ar draws y categorïau canlynol:

  1. Gwobr Bwyd Lleol
  2. Gwobr Siop bentref/Swyddfa'r Post
  3. Gwobr Menter Wledig
  4. Gwobr Cigydd
  5. Gwobr Tafarn Wledig

Wrth siarad am y Gwobrau, dywedodd yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy:

"Mae'r gwobrau hyn yn ffordd wych o hyrwyddo'r bobl fusnes lleol sy'n gweithio'n galed i gadw cefn gwlad Prydain yn ffynnu.

"Does dim i guro ein cynnyrch lleol ac mae yna lawer o arwyr cymunedol a busnesau sy'n haeddu cydnabyddiaeth genedlaethol, felly cymerwch ran ac enwebwch heddiw.

"Gadewch i ni weld a allwn ni gipio un o’r gwobrau a hyrwyddo hyd yn oed mwy o straeon positif am Aberconwy".
