Yesterday, Stena Line announced that approval has been granted by Anglesey County Council for its proposed new technology park. The park will be created on Prosperity Parc, the former Anglesey Aluminium site in Holyhead. It is the first major site to receive approval for its Freeport Full Business Case, as part of the Anglesey Freeport initiative.

The new site’s proposals forecast the creation of 1,200 jobs and an economic boost of up to £578 million for the local economy.

Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, welcomed the announcement and the significant economic benefits it is expected to bring to Ynys Môn and Wales as a whole.

Commenting on the approval of the new technology park, Janet said:

“I am delighted to see that the Anglesey Freeport, initiated by the former Conservative UK Government and passionately promoted by my Conservative colleague Virginia Crosbie, has reached this major milestone.

“This new site is set to bring significant economic benefits to Ynys Môn and Wales as a whole, with the construction phase alone creating 890 jobs, in addition to the 1,200 permanent jobs at the site. The project’s targeted investment in local training, education, and skills development will also significantly strengthen the Welsh workforce.

“I wish them all the best with this project, and I hope it encourages more businesses to establish themselves as part of the Freeport.”

Ddoe, cyhoeddodd cwmni Stena Line fod Cyngor Sir Ynys Môn wedi rhoi cymeradwyaeth ar gyfer ei barc technoleg newydd arfaethedig. Bydd y parc yn cael ei greu ar Prosperity Parc, hen safle Alwminiwm Môn yng Nghaergybi. Dyma'r safle mawr cyntaf i dderbyn cymeradwyaeth ar gyfer ei Achos Busnes Llawn ar gyfer Porthladd Rhydd, fel rhan o fenter Porthladd Rhydd Ynys Môn.

Mae cynigion y safle newydd yn rhagweld y bydd 1,200 o swyddi yn cael eu creu a hwb economaidd o hyd at £578 miliwn i'r economi leol.

Croesawodd Janet Finch-Saunders, AS Aberconwy, y cyhoeddiad a'r manteision economaidd sylweddol disgwyliedig i'r ynys a gweddill Cymru.

Wrth sôn am gymeradwyo'r parc technoleg newydd, dywedodd Janet:

“Rwy'n falch iawn o weld bod Porthladd Rhydd Ynys Môn, a gychwynnwyd gan gyn-lywodraeth Geidwadol y DU ac a gafodd ei hyrwyddo'n angerddol gan fy nghydweithwraig Geidwadol Virginia Crosbie, wedi cyrraedd y garreg filltir bwysig hon.

“Bydd y safle newydd hwn yn dod â manteision economaidd sylweddol i Ynys Môn a Chymru gyfan, gyda'r cyfnod adeiladu yn unig yn creu 890 o swyddi, yn ogystal â 1,200 o swyddi parhaol ar y safle. Bydd buddsoddiad penodol y prosiect mewn hyfforddiant, addysg a datblygu sgiliau lleol hefyd yn cryfhau gweithlu Cymru yn sylweddol.

“Rwy'n dymuno'r gorau iddyn nhw gyda'r prosiect hwn, ac yn gobeithio y bydd yn annog mwy o fusnesau i ymsefydlu yno fel rhan o'r Porthladd Rhydd."
