Transport for Wales have written confirming that their intention is to have direct train services running from Manchester Airport to Llanfairfechan from May 2026 onwards.

The confirmation comes following Janet Finch-Saunders MS/AS asking that the stop be included in the Network North Wales plans. Before her intervention there was a possibility that the new direct service would not stop in Llanfairfechan.

Commenting on the direct service to Llanfairfechan, Janet said:

“Llanfairfechan is a beautiful town that is home to just under 4,000 people. It would have been extremely frustrating should the new service to Manchester Airport not have stopped in the town. It would have meant locals going to Llandudno Junction or Bangor to catch the service.

“With the beautiful Llanfairfechan beach, upland walks, a charming high street, and wonderful guest houses, there is truly something for everyone.

“In fact, with all that is on offer, large numbers of people visit the area every day.  Clearly, it is commonsense for Llanfairfechan to have a direct service to Manchester Airport.  It will provide the town with an international gateway, and enable even more to visit the area on public transport”.
