MS Welcomes BT Investment, But Rural Gaps Remain / AS yn croesawu buddsoddiad BT, ond mae bylchau yn dal i fodoli yng nghefn gwlad

BT Openreach has confirmed that it is continuing its £15 billion investment programme

to build a new Full Fibre network across the UK, with more than 80% of premises in Wales now able to access full fibre connectivity.

Janet Finch-Saunders MS has welcomed this important progress in improving digital infrastructure across Wales. However, despite this, there remain clear and ongoing challenges in rural communities, where many residents and businesses are still experiencing unreliable or slow broadband connections.

Janet Finch-Saunders, Senedd Member for Bangor Conwy Môn said:

“The continued investment from Openreach is very welcome and will make a real difference to many homes and business across Wales.

However, we must be honest that too many rural communities are still struggling with poor broadband connectivity, I have had many constituents with this issue and it continues to hold people back in their daily lives and in running local businesses.

While progress has been made, there is still more to do to ensure that no community is left behind. Reliable broadband is now an essential utility, and I will continue to press for improvements so that my constituents receive the connectivity they need and deserve.”

Mae BT Openreach wedi cadarnhau ei fod yn parhau â'i raglen fuddsoddi gwerth £15 biliwn i adeiladu rhwydwaith Ffeibr Llawn newydd ledled y DU, gyda mwy na 80% o eiddo yng Nghymru bellach yn gallu cael mynediad at gysylltedd ffeibr llawn.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS wedi croesawu'r cynnydd pwysig hwn o ran gwella’r seilwaith digidol ledled Cymru. Fodd bynnag, er gwaethaf hyn, mae heriau clir a pharhaus mewn cymunedau gwledig o hyd, lle mae llawer o drigolion a busnesau yn dal i ddioddef cysylltiadau band eang annibynadwy neu araf.

Meddai Janet Finch-Saunders, AS Bangor Conwy Môn:

"Rwy’n croesawu’r buddsoddiad parhaus gan Openreach, a bydd yn gwneud byd o wahaniaeth i lawer o gartrefi a busnesau ledled Cymru.

Fodd bynnag, mae'n rhaid i ni fod yn onest bod gormod o gymunedau gwledig yn dal i gael trafferth gyda chysylltedd band eang gwael. Rydw i wedi clywed gan lawer o etholwyr sydd â'r broblem hon ac mae'n parhau i ddal pobl yn ôl yn eu bywydau bob dydd ac wrth redeg busnesau lleol.

Er bod cynnydd wedi'i wneud, mae mwy i'w wneud i sicrhau nad oes unrhyw gymuned yn cael ei gadael ar ôl. Mae band eang dibynadwy bellach yn un o’r cyfleustodau hanfodol, a byddaf yn parhau i bwyso am welliannau fel bod fy etholwyr yn derbyn y cysylltedd sydd ei angen arnyn nhw ac maen nhw’n ei haeddu."
