Janet Finch-Saunders Member of the Senedd for Aberconwy recently visited the site of the new active travel route linking from RSPB in Glan Conwy and Llandudno Junction to see first-hand the progress being made on the project.
The project has been in the works for over 20 years and once complete, it will provide a safe and accessible path for pedestrians, cyclists, wheelchair users and families with prams.
Considerable efforts have been made to ensure that local priorities remain at the forefront of the project. The work is being carried out by the Colwyn Bay–based firm Jennings Building and Civil Engineering Ltd, and materials have also been sourced locally where possible, including British steel and stone from Ruthin for the bridge.
The scheme will include a 3-metre-wide shared-used path, two new bridges crossing the Conwy Valley Railway Line and the Afon Ganol. The full project is expected to be completed by July 2026.
Janet Finch-Saunders, Senedd Member for Aberconwy said:
“It was great to visit the site and see the progress being made on the important project connecting Glan Conwy and Llandudno Junction. Once completed, this route will provide a safe and accessible link for walkers, cyclists and families, while allowing people to enjoy one of the most scenic routes in Wales.
Improving local connectivity and providing safer routes for active travel is incredibly important for our communities, and it is encouraging to see the incredible work progressing well.”
Yn ddiweddar, ymwelodd Janet Finch-Saunders, AS Aberconwy, â safle'r llwybr teithio llesol newydd rhwng yr RSPB yng Nglan Conwy â Chyffordd Llandudno i weld drosti'i hun y cynnydd sy'n cael ei wneud ar y prosiect.
Mae'r prosiect wedi bod ar waith ers dros 20 mlynedd ac, unwaith y bydd wedi'i gwblhau, bydd yn darparu llwybr diogel a hygyrch i gerddwyr, beicwyr, defnyddwyr cadair olwyn a theuluoedd â phramiau.
Gwnaed ymdrechion sylweddol i sicrhau bod blaenoriaethau lleol yn parhau i fod yn rhan annatod o’r prosiect. Mae'r gwaith yn cael ei wneud gan gwmni Jennings Building and Civil Engineering Ltd ym Mae Colwyn, ac mae deunyddiau hefyd wedi’u prynu’n lleol lle bo hynny'n bosibl, gan gynnwys dur Prydeinig a cherrig o Ruthun ar gyfer y bont.
Bydd y cynllun yn cynnwys llwybr 3 metr o led a dwy bont newydd sy'n croesi Rheilffordd Dyffryn Conwy ac Afon Ganol. Disgwylir i'r prosiect llawn gael ei gwblhau erbyn mis Gorffennaf 2026.
Meddai Janet Finch-Saunders, AS Aberconwy:
"Roedd hi’n wych ymweld â'r safle a gweld y cynnydd sy'n cael ei wneud ar y prosiect pwysig sy'n cysylltu Glan Conwy a Chyffordd Llandudno. Ar ôl ei gwblhau, bydd y llwybr hwn yn darparu cyswllt diogel a hygyrch i gerddwyr, beicwyr a theuluoedd, gan ganiatáu i bobl fwynhau un o'r llwybrau mwyaf hardd yng Nghymru.
Mae gwella cysylltedd lleol a darparu llwybrau mwy diogel ar gyfer teithio llesol yn hynod bwysig i'n cymunedau, ac mae'n galonogol gweld bod y gwaith anhygoel hwn yn dod ymlaen yn dda."
