Yesterday, during First Minister’s Questions, Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Bangor Conwy Môn, reiterated her call for the Welsh Government to work with the UK Government to ensure that all hospitality businesses in Wales receive a cut to their VAT.
Janet commented:
“While I welcome the announcement of a 30% cut in business rates for pubs, cinemas and gyms, this simply does not go far enough to help our vital tourism and hospitality sector.
“The 30% business rates relief still falls short of the 40% relief that was in place until April. This, along with increases in Employers’ National Insurance Contributions and the cost of food and drink, will place strain on these essential businesses.
“It is important that the First Minister takes urgent action to work with the UK Government to ensure that these businesses are supported and that the 10% cut to their VAT is put into action. For the sector in Bangor Conwy Môn, this reduction cannot come soon enough.”
