Concerns have been raised following Welsh Labour’s manifesto launch where First Minister, Eluned Morgan promised patients with pressing medical needs will be seen within 48 hours if re-elected.

Janet Finch-Saunders MS has questioned the credibility of the pledge, pointing out that Welsh Labour backed by Plaid Cymru have been in power for 27 years and has repeatedly failed to meet key NHS targets, including cancer waiting times, ambulance & A&E targets too.

With patients across Wales still facing long waits and difficulty accessing GP appointments, there are growing frustrations that this pledge is too little, too late, rather than a credible plan for repairing the health service.

Janet Finch-Saunders, Senedd Member for Aberconwy said:

“After 27 years in charge, Welsh Labour cannot expect people to believe the same promises all over again. Patients have been waiting far too long already, and targets have been missed time and time again.

The pledge simply raises more questions than answers. If they were able to deliver this, why hasn’t it been done already? Wales needs a serious plan to fix the NHS, not more last-minute promises that risk being broken once again.

The Welsh Conservatives would declare a health emergency and initiate a COVID-type response to the crisis in our NHS, following this we would also re open closed wards in community hospitals to free up the backlog.”

Mae pryderon wedi cael eu codi yn dilyn lansiad maniffesto Llafur Cymru lle addawodd y Prif Weinidog, Eluned Morgan, y bydd cleifion ag anghenion meddygol brys yn cael eu gweld o fewn 48 awr os cânt eu hailethol.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders AS wedi cwestiynu hygrededd yr addewid, gan nodi bod Llafur Cymru, gyda chefnogaeth Plaid Cymru, wedi bod mewn grym ers 27 mlynedd ac wedi methu â chyrraedd targedau allweddol y GIG dro ar ôl tro, gan gynnwys amseroedd aros canser, targedau ambiwlans a thargedau adrannau damweiniau ac achosion brys.

Gyda chleifion ledled Cymru yn dal i wynebu amseroedd aros hir ac anhawster i gael apwyntiad gyda’u meddyg teulu, mae rhwystredigaeth gynyddol bod yr addewid hwn yn rhy ychydig, yn rhy hwyr, yn hytrach na chynllun credadwy ar gyfer rhoi trefn ar y gwasanaeth iechyd.

Meddai Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy:

“Ar ôl 27 mlynedd wrth y llyw, ni all Llafur Cymru ddisgwyl i bobl gredu'r un hen addewidion eto. Mae cleifion wedi bod yn aros yn llawer rhy hir eisoes, ac mae targedau wedi cael eu methu dro ar ôl tro.

“Y cyfan mae’r addewid hwn yn ei wneud yw codi rhagor o gwestiynau nag atebion. Os oedden nhw'n gallu cyflawni hyn, pam nad ydyn nhw wedi gwneud hynny eisoes? Mae Cymru angen cynllun arbennig i gael trefn ar y GIG, nid mwy o addewidion munud olaf sydd mewn perygl o gael eu torri unwaith eto.

“Byddai'r Ceidwadwyr Cymreig yn datgan argyfwng iechyd ac yn cychwyn ymateb tebyg i COVID i'r argyfwng yn ein GIG. Wedyn byddem hefyd yn ailagor wardiau caeedig mewn ysbytai cymunedol i ysgafnhau baich yr ôl-groniad cleifion.”
