The retailer announced it was moving two years ago but has still not submitted its planning application
Marks and Spencer says it remains committed to relocating from Llandudno high street despite still not submitting its planning application for a new store.
The retailer made the shock announcement in November 2017 that it was to close its satellite store on Mostyn Street and consolidate in the main store – then shift all departments to a new unit on Parc Llandudno.
At the time bosses said a planning application for the new store would follow early in 2018.
But 20 months later and the company has still not submitted its application to planners although there has been widespread speculation about their plans on the retail park.
North Wales News contacted M&S this week for an update on the scheme.
A spokeswoman said they "remain committed" to relocating to Parc Llandudno but said they had no further updates at this stage.
They added that the planning process was ongoing.
Aberconwy AM Janet Finch-Saunders has previously asked for “certainty” on the issue from the company.
She said: "Residents and visitors alike are keen to know exactly what the future plans are and this uncertainty must be rather unsettling for the hard working members of staff employed there.
“I would urge senior management of M&S to reveal the future prospects of the store so as to bring forward some certainty on the matter.”
