Following a visit to Crest’s Happitat Store, Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has spoken of the positive work being undertaken.

Crest was established as a social enterprise in 1998 and evolved from a project run by Scope.  In 2020 the organisation developed charitable status. The community co-operative has a fantastic aim to help disabled and unemployed people increase their skills and gain employment – either within the co-operative or to move on to sustainable employment within the community.

Commenting after her visit, Janet said:

“The store seeks to recycle and reuse preloved furniture, employing a highly skilled joiner dedicated to crafting beautiful and stylish items exclusively for the Happitat Store.

“At a time of climate and nature crisis, we really need to make strides in becoming a reuse society. Crest’s shop is helping that effort locally.

“I wish the team continued success with upcycling, and providing invaluable opportunities to people out of work and with disabilities”

Yn dilyn ymweliad â siop Happitat Crest, mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi siarad am y gwaith positif sy’n cael ei wneud.

Sefydlwyd Crest fel menter gymdeithasol ym 1998 ac esblygodd o brosiect a gynhaliwyd gan Scope. Yn 2020, datblygodd y sefydliad statws elusennol. Mae gan y fenter gydweithredol gymunedol nod rhagorol o helpu pobl anabl a di-waith i feithrin eu sgiliau a chael gwaith - o fewn menter gydweithredol neu i symud ymlaen i gyflogaeth gynaliadwy o fewn y gymuned.

Gan roi ei sylwadau ar ôl ei hymweliad, dywedodd Janet:

“Mae’r siop yn ceisio ailgylchu ac ailddefnyddio dodrefn sydd wedi’u defnyddio eisoes, gan gyflogi saer dawnus iawn i grefftio eitemau hyfryd llawn steil yn arbennig ar gyfer Siop Happitat.

“Ar adeg argyfyngus i’r hinsawdd a byd natur, mae gwir angen i ni gymryd camau mawr i ddod yn gymdeithas sy’n ailddefnyddio. Mae siop Crest yn helpu’r ymdrech honno yn lleol.

“Pob llwyddiant i'r tîm wrth uwchgylchu a chynnig cyfleoedd amhrisiadwy i bobl allan o waith ac sydd ag anableddau.”
