Following the decision by the Cabinet of Conwy County Borough Council to go ahead with closing public toilets in Llandudno, the Town Council has intervened so to save the facilities.
During a meeting on Thursday 12 September 2024 the Town Council, following recommendations by the Chair of the meeting, Cllr Louise Emery, supported the move proposed by Cllr Greg Robbins.
Commenting on the Town Council’s decision to provide emergency funding, Janet said:
“A huge congratulations to the Welsh Conservative group for spearheading the decision to use some Llandudno Town Council reserves to help keep some of the toilets open that were earmarked for closure by the Independent, Labour, and Plaid Cymru Cabinet of Conwy County Borough Council.
“This is a common sense move and I am grateful to the Committee Chair, Cllr Louise Emery and all members of her group.
“The decision to close these toilets has angered many residents and visitors, especially at a time when council tax has increased locally, by nigh on 20% over the past two years!
“Thank you to everyone who supported this important resolution. Llandudno Town Council has managed to step in where the Cabinet of Conwy County Borough Council has failed this community, again.”
