The Welsh Conservatives, led by Darren Millar, have announced their Shadow Cabinet in the Senedd.
Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Senedd for Bangor, Conwy and Môn, was appointed Shadow Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy.
Following the appointment, Janet commented:
“I am delighted to become the Welsh Conservative Shadow Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy. My background is in business, and I have been privileged to build a successful career as a businesswoman. I am greatly looking forward to bringing my experience and expertise to the role.
“After 27 years of Welsh Labour governments, the Welsh economy has suffered significantly, with the lowest employment rate, the highest levels of economic inactivity, and a growing perception that Wales is not business-friendly.
“We have seen too many businesses forced to close their doors, and it is time to strengthen the Welsh economy and showcase everything Wales has to offer.
“Through this role, I will also continue to call for the creation of a Third Menai Crossing, as previous bridge maintenance and closures have highlighted the importance of there being multiple routes to and from Ynys Môn. In addition to this, I will continue to highlight the need for the A55 to be upgraded.
“Alongside continuing my work with stakeholders in the energy sector, I will build on the work of the former MP for Ynys Môn, Virginia Crosby, and champion the development of Wylfa, while ensuring that the installation of solar farms does not come at the expense of our food security.
“Within this role, I will continue to hold the Welsh Ministers to account, as well as my counterpart in Reform.”
