On 11 November Janet Finch-Saunders AM visited the Boots Pharmacy in Penrhyn Bay to discuss the importance of using your local pharmacist and see the increasing range of services being offered there.

She also took the opportunity to congratulate the manager, Peter Lanham, for winning the best Boots in Wales in the company’s recent awards ceremony

Commenting on the visit Janet Finch-Saunders AM said: “The community pharmacy sector is expanding all the time and is has changed in the five years since I first became an Assembly Member. The community pharmacy now does flu jabs, smoking cessation services and a range of other health care helps that are making the health service relevant and accessible.

“In my role as a local Assembly Member and also as Conservative Party Champion for Older People I am keen to explore how pharmacies can further expand their services, and I’m delighted that some of the pharmacies operating in Aberconwy are being seen as the best and most responsive in Wales. There is much more to do to help relieve the pressure on GPs, but I’m sure that better using our community pharmacies is a big step forward.”

Speaking for Community Pharmacy Wales, Judy Henley said: “This is an exciting time for community pharmacy in North Wales. We are currently working with Welsh Government to look at what an expanded pharmacy contract could look like, and we are pleased Janet was able to see first hand the important steps being taken. She is right to say pharmacies can play an even bigger role in the health care of the future and we look forward to continuing to work with her to make sure this happens.”
