The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy has welcomed the arrival of a new Mobile Van Post Office for residents in Eglwysbach and Rowen.

This Mobile Van Post Office service will be operated by the postmaster from Maesgeirchen Post Office, stopping in various locations including in the Aberconwy constituency area.

Eglwysbach Outreach Post Office Service, which was operating from the Eglwysbach Village Hall, ceased on Thursday 20th October 2022. The Mobile Post Office service will operate from a new service stop, at the Car Park, Bee Inn, Maes Llan, Eglwysbach, Conwy, LL28 5UD. The Mobile service will operate on Fridays between 10:00 and 10:30am.

Rowen Outreach Post Office Service, which was operating from Rowen Memorial Hall, ceased on Wednesday 19th October 2022. The Mobile Post Office service will operate from a new service stop at the Car Park, Rowen Memorial Hall, Llanerch Estate, Rowen, Conway, LL32 8YA. The Mobile service will operate on Fridays between 10:45 and 11:15am.

Speaking today on the announcement, Janet said:

“I’m delighted that the postmaster from Maesgeirchen Post Office, who currently operates a Mobile Service in the area, has extended the Post Office Service to the communities at Eglwysbach and Rowen.

“This new service will bring greater flexibility and accessibility to a wide range of services for local residents.

“The Mobile Post Office Service is a tried and tested way of maintaining services to local communities. The service consists of a travelling Post Office aboard a specifically designed vehicle, which brings Post Office services and retail products to the local communities without having to rely on fixed premises.

“The establishment of mobile services presents the best possible solution to restore Post Office services to these communities”.
