Janet Finch-Saunders MS, Shadow Minister for Climate Change Meets with member of the Welsh Youth Parliament

Janet Finch-Saunders, Shadow Minister for Climate Change met with Owain Williams MWYP/ASIC on the 18th of March where they discussed numerous topics of mutual interest on the environment and youth politics in Wales.

During the meeting, the Shadow Minister reiterated her frustration towards the Welsh Governments failure to put into law their commitment to protect Welsh waters and land conservationism.  During her meeting, the Shadow Minister and Owain covered a large array of subjects, from, renewable energy, to charging points, public transport and education.

Commenting on the meeting, the Shadow Minister said:

“I was very pleased to meet with Owain and discuss incredibly important policy areas on both a local and national level. We face an unprecedented challenge here in Wales where every inch of rich land and supreme Welsh Water is under threat from climate change.”

Janet and Owain spoke about beach cleaning events in Aberconwy and how they could both organise greater action plans in protecting local biodiversity.

Commenting further, Janet said:

“It was refreshing to hear some very original and thought-provoking positions which I’m pleased to say I have carried over into my portfolio as Shadow Minister for Climate Change. Owain is undertaking a very privileged role as Youth Member of the Senedd, and it’s fantastic to see him and others demonstrate such a great commitment.”
