Janet Finch Saunders, Shadow Minister for Climate Change is today calling on the Welsh Government to provide a detailed plan on how they seek to boost tourism and air travel to Wales in a post COVID-19 era. On average, Snowdonia national park and Aberconwy welcome over 1 million visitors every year.

Commenting on this Janet says:

“Wales can accommodate for all types of visitors. For those seeking adventure in and around our coastline and mountains, Wales is a perfect destination for families and those seeking fun and excitement.  As we begin to recover from the pandemic, the Welsh Government must ensure that pre-tourism levels return. This is our opportunity to promote Welsh culture and life and to make it known that Wales is open for business”.

The Shadow Minister continues to press the Welsh Government as the flight link between the nations two major airports remains suspended, despite hundreds of thousands being spent on maintaining the route on paper.

The Shadow Minister adds:

“It’s disappointing to see the Welsh Government neglect two airports which have the potential to link millions in Wales with the rest of the World. Despite numerous flight links to Spain and Portugal being on offer from Cardiff Airport, it is still without direct services to countries such as Germany, Belgium and Denmark. This is just simply not good enough.

“I hope that as we seek to boost business and industry in Wales, the Welsh Government will begin to act decisively on promoting Wales as a fantastic destination”.
