AM and MrS Victoria Stanley

Janet Finch-Saunders AM has been liaising with Network Rail and Conwy County Borough Council to have a pedestrian bridge restored and maintained after being approached by constituents in Deganwy, and Mrs Victoria Stanley, Chair of Deganwy and District Residences’ Association.

An inspection carried out on 30/01/17 has identified four aspects as being moderate in severity, whilst another four are minor. Additionally, all aspects have been given the same priority level.  The main problem noted by the inspection was the failure of the finishing.

Janet said:

“The pedestrian bridge which crosses from Platt Fields carpark to the Wales Costal Path is a true eyesore by the beach in Deganwy.

“It is shocking that such an asset has been allowed to reach a point where the metal is rusting, paint chipping, and plants sprouting.

“However, I am pleased that the Council has responded positively to the concerns raised by myself and residents on this matter, by placing the bridge on their inspection programme and carrying out a survey, which has recently been reported on.”

Notes

Responsibility for the bridge was given to the Council in a works agreement between the British Railway Board and Aberconwy Borough Council, dated 12th July 1988. Janet welcomed the news that the bridge had been placed on the inspection list for January 2017
