Janet Finch-Saunders, member for Aberconwy in the Welsh Parliament, has reiterated her concerns to the Deputy Minister for Tourism, Dawn Bowden MS, highlighting the unacceptability of restricting the operational period of pop-up campsites to just 28 days.

As part of extensive reforms in the tourism and hospitality sector by the Welsh Government, restrictions on permitted development rights have led to a reduction in the operational duration of pop-up campsites from 56 days to 28 days.

In an attempt to tackle this Janet called on the Deputy Minister to address this by raising the limit from 28 to 60 days.

Commenting on this Janet said:

“At present, Welsh landowners are at a major disadvantage to those across the border in England.

“It is a quarter of a year on from the closure of the consultation held by the Welsh Government on Permitted Development Rights. It is unacceptable that they have still not made a decision on whether or not to allow campsite to operate for 60 instead of 28 days.

“It is only 2 weeks until the Easter break will be in full swing. We need a decision on this immediately rather than more dither and delay from the bureaucrats in the Welsh Government.

“I understand the big differences small changes like this would make. It is high time the Welsh Government get themselves in gear and start helping our beloved tourism industry that Conwy relies on so much, rather than needlessly attacking it.”

ENDS

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, AS Aberconwy yn Senedd Cymru, wedi ailadrodd ei phryderon i'r Dirprwy Weinidog Twristiaeth, Dawn Bowden AS, gan dynnu sylw at y sefyllfa annerbyniol o gyfyngu ar gyfnod gweithredol gwersylloedd dros dro i 28 diwrnod yn unig.

Fel rhan o ddiwygiadau helaeth yn y sector twristiaeth a lletygarwch gan Lywodraeth Cymru, mae cyfyngiadau ar hawliau datblygu a ganiateir wedi arwain at ostyngiad yn hyd gweithredol gwersylloedd dros dro o 56 diwrnod i 28 diwrnod.

Mewn ymgais i fynd i'r afael â hyn, galwodd Janet ar y Dirprwy Weinidog i fynd i'r afael â hyn drwy godi'r terfyn o 28 i 60 diwrnod.

Meddai Janet:

“Ar hyn o bryd, mae tirfeddianwyr Cymru dan anfantais fawr i'r rhai dros y ffin yn Lloegr.

“Mae chwarter blwyddyn ers cau'r ymgynghoriad a gynhaliwyd gan Lywodraeth Cymru ar Hawliau Datblygu a Ganiateir. Mae'n annerbyniol eu bod nhw'n dal heb benderfynu a ydyn nhw am ganiatáu i safleoedd gwersylla weithredu am 60 diwrnod yn lle 28 diwrnod.

“Dim ond pythefnos sydd i fynd tan brysurdeb y Pasg. Mae angen penderfyniad ar y mater ar unwaith yn hytrach na rhagor o oedi a llusgo traed gan fiwrocratiaid Llywodraeth Cymru.

“Rwy'n deall y gwahaniaethau mawr y byddai newidiadau bach fel hyn yn eu gwneud. Mae'n hen bryd i Lywodraeth Cymru newid gêr a dechrau helpu ein diwydiant twristiaeth sydd mor bwysig i Gonwy, yn hytrach nag ymosod arno'n ddiangen."
