The Welsh Government have announced their “ambitious transport plan to drive economic growth” in North Wales. However, it has zero improvements to the Conwy Valley Railway Line.
Yesterday, Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy launched a survey that gives residents a say on the Conwy Valley Railway Line.
Commenting on the Conwy Valley Railway survey Janet said:
“I have long campaigned for improvements to be made to the Conwy Valley Railway line, especially for direct services between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Manchester Airport, as well as a direct service between Blaenau Ffestiniog and Holyhead.
“The frequency of services on the line needs to be increased, with a service operating on average every three hours.
“This improved service will encourage more passengers to travel to the gateway of Eryri National Park, Betws-y-Coed, by train, which, in turn, will help to relieve the road and parking congestion caused by the high volume of visitors.
“A truly ambitious transport plan takes into consideration the Conwy Valley Railway line and strengths it. Therefore, unlike the Welsh Government, I continue to campaign for improvements to be made to this vital railway line.”

Mae Llywodraeth Cymru wedi cyhoeddi eu "cynllun trafnidiaeth uchelgeisiol i sbarduno twf yr economi" yn y Gogledd. Ond nid yw'n cynnig unrhyw welliannau i Reilffordd Dyffryn Conwy.
Ddoe, lansiodd Janet Finch-Saunders, AS Aberconwy, arolwg sy'n rhoi cyfle i drigolion ddweud eu dweud ar Reilffordd Dyffryn Conwy.
Wrth sôn am y rheilffordd, dywedodd Janet:
“Dwi wedi ymgyrchu ers tro byd am welliannau i linell Rheilffordd Dyffryn Conwy, yn enwedig gwasanaethau uniongyrchol rhwng Blaenau Ffestiniog a Maes Awyr Manceinion, yn ogystal â gwasanaeth uniongyrchol rhwng Blaenau Ffestiniog a Chaergybi.
“Mae angen mwy o wasanaethau amlach ar y lein, gyda gwasanaeth yn rhedeg bob tair awr ar gyfartaledd.
“Bydd y gwasanaeth gwell hwn yn annog mwy o bobl i ddefnyddio'r trên i deithio i borth Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri, Betws-y-Coed, a fydd, yn ei dro, yn helpu i leddfu'r tagfeydd traffig a pharcio sy'n cael eu hachosi gan yr holl ymwelwyr.
“Mae cynllun trafnidiaeth gwirioneddol uchelgeisiol yn ystyried rheilffordd Dyffryn Conwy ac yn ei chryfhau. Felly, yn wahanol i Lywodraeth Cymru, rwy'n parhau i ymgyrchu dros welliannau i'r lein hanfodol hon.”
