The King

Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, has expressed her best wishes to the King and Queen Consort ahead of the coronation at Westminster Abbey on 6 May 2023.

Speaking about King Charles III, the Member of the Welsh Parliament has highlighted that we are set to watch a service in which Wales is an important theme.

Commenting ahead of the coronation, Janet said:

“From Llanrwst to Llandudno, events have been planned to help bring people together.

“Millions of people globally will be coming together to enjoy the coronation of the King and the Queen Consort at Westminster Abbey, where Wales will be an important theme.

“The presence of the royal harpist and Sir Bryn Terfel, along with the Welsh words that will be sung in Westminster Abbey, reflect the commitment the King showed to promoting Welsh culture during his 64 years as Prince of Wales.

“In fact, when King Charles is crowned he will be the first monarch since Elizabeth I to be able to speak Welsh!

“Since childhood, he has had a deep bond with our country, and I am sure that he will continue to tirelessly serve Wales and the world.”

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, wedi mynegi ei dymuniadau gorau i'r Brenin a'r Frenhines Gydweddog cyn y coroni yn Abaty Westminster ar 6 Mai 2023.

Wrth siarad am y Brenin Charles III, tynnodd yr Aelod o’r Senedd sylw at y ffaith ein bod ar fin gwylio gwasanaeth lle mae Cymru'n cael lle amlwg.

Wrth sôn am y coroni, dywedodd Janet:

"O Lanrwst i Landudno, mae digwyddiadau wedi'u trefnu gyda’r nod o ddod â phobl at ei gilydd.

"Bydd miliynau o bobl ledled y byd yn dod at ei gilydd i fwynhau coroni'r Brenin a'r Frenhines Gydweddog yn Abaty Westminster, lle bydd Cymru'n thema bwysig.

"Bydd presenoldeb y delynores frenhinol a Syr Bryn Terfel, ynghyd â'r geiriau Cymraeg a fydd yn cael eu canu yn Abaty Westminster, yn adlewyrchu'r ymrwymiad y mae’r Brenin wedi’i ddangos i hybu diwylliant Cymru yn ystod ei 64 mlynedd fel Tywysog Cymru.

“Mewn gwirionedd, pan fydd y Brenin Charles yn cael ei goroni, ef fydd y brenin cyntaf ers Elizabeth I i allu siarad Cymraeg!

"Ers ei blentyndod, mae ganddo gysylltiad dwfn â'n gwlad, ac rwy'n siŵr y bydd yn parhau i wasanaethu Cymru a'r byd yn ddiflino."
