Yesterday, the two councillors for the Gogarth Ward on Conwy County Borough Council, and Llandudno Town Council, Cllr Harry Saville, and Cllr Louise Emery, sent a joint letter to the UK Government’s Secretary of State for Housing, Communities, and Local Government, setting out their opposition to the plans to close Llandudno’s town centre library and Tourist Information Centre, and to relocate it to Venue Cymru.

Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, who has been actively campaigning against the move, has welcomed the letter.

Commenting on the letter to the Secretary of State, Janet said:

“I would like to thank Harry and Louise for writing to the Cabinet Secretary and outlining the concerns of Llandudno residents about the relocation of the Llandudno Library and Tourist Information Centre.

“Conwy County Borough Council, and now the UK Government, should listen to the voices of Llandudno residents, the people who frequently use the library. During the consultation, it was shown that 76% of respondents would find it harder to access the library due to the move, with 75% saying they would use the services less. This cannot be allowed to happen.

“I look forward to hearing the response from the Secretary of State for Housing, Communities, and Local Government — and please be assured that I will continue to campaign against this move.”

Ddoe, mi wnaeth y ddau gynghorydd ar gyfer Ward y Gogarth ar Gyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy, a Chyngor Tref Llandudno, y Cynghorydd Harry Saville a'r Cynghorydd Louise Emery, anfon llythyr ar y cyd at Ysgrifennydd Gwladol Llywodraeth y DU dros Dai, Cymunedau a Llywodraeth Leol, yn nodi eu gwrthwynebiad i'r cynlluniau i gau llyfrgell a Chanolfan Groeso canol tref Llandudno, a'u hadleoli i Venue Cymru.

Mae Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, sydd wedi bod yn ymgyrchu'n ddiwyd yn erbyn y symud, wedi croesawu'r llythyr.

Gan gyfeirio at y llythyr at yr Ysgrifennydd Gwladol, dywedodd Janet:

"Hoffwn ddiolch i Harry a Louise am ysgrifennu at Ysgrifennydd y Cabinet ac amlinellu pryderon trigolion Llandudno am adleoli Llyfrgell a Chanolfan Groeso Llandudno.

"Dylai Cyngor Bwrdeistref Sirol Conwy, a nawr Llywodraeth y DU, wrando ar leisiau trigolion Llandudno, sef y bobl sy'n defnyddio'r llyfrgell amlaf. Yn ystod yr ymgynghoriad, dangoswyd y byddai 76% o'r ymatebwyr yn ei chael hi'n anoddach defnyddio’r llyfrgell yn sgil y symud, gyda 75% yn dweud y byddent yn defnyddio'r gwasanaethau yn llai aml. Ni ellir caniatáu i hyn ddigwydd.

"Edrychaf ymlaen at glywed yr ymateb gan yr Ysgrifennydd Gwladol dros Dai, Cymunedau a Llywodraeth Leol - a gallaf eich sicrhau y byddaf yn parhau i ymgyrchu yn erbyn y symud hwn."
