Flooding public meeting 2020

After securing funding for flood alleviation works for the Perthi and Y Berllan estates in Llanrwst, confirmation has been received that the scheme is a step closer to being implemented. Having worked on this issue since March 2019, Janet Finch-Saunders MS has now been informed by Conwy County Borough Council that:

  • Agreement has been reached with the Housing Association to carry out the works
  • The Housing Association have indicated that they will be informing their residents in the coming week of the proposed works
  • The proposed works are scheduled to start on 10 August 2020

Commenting on the positive development, Mrs Finch-Saunders said:

“I am committed to working to try and see the risk of flooding to residents’ homes and businesses in Llanrwst and the surrounding area reduced.

“I have been actively pursuing support for the Perthi and y Berllan estates in Llanrwst which were left in such a serious state after Storm Ciara.

“It is fantastic news that the housing association has agreed and that the works are scheduled to start on 10 August 2020.

“My thanks go to all residents who have put their faith in me to hold relevant authorities to account for them, and to Conwy Council for cooperating with me to see emergency permanent works made possible”.
