Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy was pleased to hear that the Welsh Government are considering changing the Permitted Development Rights for pop-up campsites.

During her last contribution with Mark Drakeford as First Minister yesterday, Janet asked him what suggestion from the Welsh Conservatives he would advise his successor to adopt.

The First Minister clarified that there was a

“need to make sure that we modernise the law, as my colleague Julie James is considering doing in terms of permitted development rights. So, there is an issue on which I think we could say we have listened carefully to what others have said and heard the advocacy of that change from the Member for Aberconwy.”

Commenting on the news Janet said:

“It was encouraging to hear on the floor of the chamber that my campaign to extend permitted development rights for campsites is making headway in the Welsh Parliament.

“This could lead to pop-up campsites being open for up to 60 days, more than double the current limit. This would mean that those wanting to gain some extra income and support the tourism industry in Conwy would be able to do so, and for a more sustained period.

“This is excellent news and I thank Mark Drakeford MS for listening to me on this and for realising what a difference this will make to our communities, especially in times of such hardship.”

Roedd Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o'r Senedd dros Aberconwy, yn falch o glywed bod Llywodraeth Cymru yn ystyried newid yr Hawliau Datblygu a Ganiateir ar gyfer meysydd gwersylla dros dro.

Yn ystod ei chyfraniad olaf gyda Mark Drakeford fel Prif Weinidog ddoe, gofynnodd Janet iddo pa awgrym gan y Ceidwadwyr Cymreig y byddai'n cynghori ei olynydd i'w fabwysiadu.

Eglurodd y Prif Weinidog fod

“angen i sicrhau ein bod yn moderneiddio'r gyfraith, fel y mae fy nghyd-Aelod Julie James yn ystyried ei wneud o ran hawliau datblygu a ganiateir. Felly, dyna fater lle credaf y gallem ddweud ein bod ni wedi gwrando'n astud ar yr hyn y mae eraill wedi'i ddweud, wedi clywed yr Aelod dros Aberconwy yn eirioli dros y newid hwnnw.”

Wrth sôn am y newyddion hwn, dywedodd Janet:

“Roedd yn galonogol clywed ar lawr y siambr fod fy ymgyrch i ymestyn hawliau datblygu a ganiateir ar gyfer meysydd gwersylla yn gwneud cynnydd yn y Senedd.

“Gallai hyn arwain at safleoedd gwersylla dros dro yn agor am hyd at 60 diwrnod, sy'n fwy na dwbl y terfyn presennol. Byddai hyn yn golygu y byddai'r rhai sydd am ennill rhywfaint o incwm ychwanegol a chefnogi'r diwydiant twristiaeth yng Nghonwy yn gallu gwneud hynny, ac am gyfnod hirach.

“Mae hyn yn newyddion gwych a hoffwn ddiolch i Mark Drakeford AS am wrando arna i ar hyn ac am sylweddoli pa wahaniaeth y bydd hyn yn ei wneud i'n cymunedau, yn enwedig mewn cyfnodau o galedi.”
