Owls Trust

Janet Finch-Saunders, Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy was delighted to have visited the Owls Trust at Bodafon Farm Park in Llandudno.

The Trust has one of the best collections of owls on display to the public in the UK. Its main function is to educate the public on the plights of owls worldwide and rescue injured owls and birds of prey that would otherwise not survive in the wild. Their goal is to rehabilitate around 80% of those they rescue.

They also provide educational talks to schools and clubs with the birds while leading and supporting projects worldwide.

Commenting on the visit Janet said:

“It was a real pleasure to return to the sanctuary. I met some old friends alongside a variety of different birds, and of course the owls.

“Many of the birds the Trust rescues have been injured through being shot, caught in traps or poisoned by toxic chemicals. So it’s wonderful to see the important job the Trust does to rehabilitate these birds when they would otherwise die.

“Indeed, a few years back I adopted a kookaburra called Shelia.

“I am grateful to Pam Broughton the Zoo Director for organising the visit and wish her and the team all the best for the future.”

Commenting on Janet’s visit, Pam said:

“We were delighted to welcome Janet to the Trust, her interest in our progress goes back very many years. Some years ago she adopted Shelia, our completely crazy kookaburra, to  help to support the work of the Trust.

“Her role as Shadow Minister for Climate Change made this visit even more relevant for us. We cannot thank her enough for taking the time to learn more about our work.”
