Janet Finch-Saunders MS has recently visited the site of where repairs are taking place on the Dolgarrog Pipe Bridge. During a tour of the works by Welsh Water officials, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, was able to see first-hand the scaffolding that has been erected across and around the crossing, and learn more about the plans to make the bridge safe to carry the water pipes and enable access to pedestrians.
Commenting on the current work, Janet said.
“It has been an honour to establish and lead the local stakeholders group which has successfully seen Welsh Water U-turn on their decision to close the bridge permanently.
“I’m pleased to see that the work on the bridge is progressing positively. It is an amazing project that I have been proud to work on and drive forward, alongside Dwr Cymru, Conwy County Borough Council, Network Rail, Dolgarrog Community Council, local Councillors, landowners and the community."
Commenting further, Janet said.
“Originally closed in January 2021, following significant concerns about the condition of the bridge, I’m glad to have lead a successful campaign that lead Welsh Water to commit to working with stakeholders, securing a £1.9m investment!
“Once completed, this project will be a huge asset to Dolgarrog, Maenan and the Conwy Valley. I’d like to thank everyone for the sterling efforts on this, and I look forward to seeing the bridge when it’s completed.”
