The new direct train service between Llandudno and Liverpool is set to start rolling in May 2026, and could bring significant tourism benefits the Queen of Welsh Resorts and the wider area.

Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, who has been actively campaigning for the direct line and improved rail services in North Wales, commented:

“While we have known about this positive change since May, and I have had the privilege of informing constituents in Aberconwy, we need to ensure that the new direct train will deliver significant business benefits for Llandudno.

“The direct line will make it easier for visitors to travel to Llandudno.

“Currently, we see around 10 million tourists annually, many of whom travel from the North West. We should look to Visit Wales to promote the service as a way of encouraging visitors to travel sustainably to and from our wonderful destination.

“I welcome this train service, and thank the Welsh Government for listening to and acting on my calls”.

Disgwylir i'r gwasanaeth trên uniongyrchol newydd rhwng Llandudno a Lerpwl ddechrau ym mis Mai 2026, a gallai ddod â buddion twristiaeth sylweddol i Frenhines Cyrchfannau Gwyliau Cymru a'r ardal ehangach.

Meddai Janet Finch-Saunders, Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, sydd wedi bod yn ymgyrchu'n frwd dros y llinell uniongyrchol a gwell gwasanaethau rheilffyrdd yng Ngogledd Cymru:

"Er ein bod wedi gwybod am y newid cadarnhaol hwn ers mis Mai, a fy mod wedi cael y fraint o roi gwybod i etholwyr yn Aberconwy, mae angen i ni sicrhau y bydd y trên uniongyrchol newydd yn darparu manteision busnes sylweddol i Landudno.

"Bydd y llinell uniongyrchol yn ei gwneud hi'n haws i ymwelwyr deithio i Landudno.

"Ar hyn o bryd, rydyn ni'n gweld tua 10 miliwn o dwristiaid bob blwyddyn, llawer ohonyn nhw’n teithio o Ogledd Orllewin Lloegr. Dylai Croeso Cymru hyrwyddo'r gwasanaeth fel ffordd o annog ymwelwyr i deithio'n gynaliadwy i'n cyrchfan wych ac oddi yno.

"Rwy'n croesawu'r gwasanaeth trên hwn, ac yn diolch i Lywodraeth Cymru am wrando ar fy ngalwadau a gweithredu arnyn nhw".
