Yesterday, it was announced that Terminal 3 at Holyhead Port will not being reopening on the target date of 1st July, with the date being pushed back to 15th July.

Whilst the delay of the reopening is disappointing Stena Line have provided reassurance that they have operated a full sailing schedule since the reopening of Terminal 5 in January with adjustments to timetables.

Janet Finch-Saunders, the Member of Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy, was disappointed to hear about the delay, but highlighted huge opportunity for economic growth.

Commenting on the delay of the reopening of Terminal 3, Janet said:

“Two weeks may not sound long for some, but the disruption to residents and businesses caused by the fact that the port has not been in full operation since December cannot be overlooked.

“There has been a decline in passing trade, so we need to see that undone, and go further by enabling the port to grow, such as with the fantastic opportunity created by the previous UK Conservative Government freeport policy.

“While this delay is disappointing, the immense work that has been undertaken to restore to terminal and Stena Line’s commitment to North West Wales must be acknowledged. I hope that there are no further delays.”

Ddoe, cyhoeddwyd na fydd Terfynfa 3 ym Mhorthladd Caergybi yn cael ei hailagor ar y dyddiad targed o 1 Gorffennaf, gyda'r dyddiad yn cael ei wthio'n ôl i 15 Gorffennaf.

Er bod yr oedi cyn ailagor yn siomedig, mae Stena Line wedi rhoi sicrwydd eu bod wedi gweithredu amserlen hwylio lawn ers ailagor Terfynfa 5 ym mis Ionawr gydag addasiadau i'r amserlenni.

Roedd Janet Finch-Saunders, yr Aelod o’r Senedd dros Aberconwy, yn siomedig o glywed am yr oedi, ond tynnodd sylw at gyfle enfawr ar gyfer twf economaidd.

Gan drafod yr oedi cyn ailagor Terfynfa 3, dywedodd Janet:

"Efallai na fydd pythefnos yn swnio'n hir i rai, ond ni ellir anwybyddu'r aflonyddwch i drigolion a busnesau a achosir gan y ffaith nad yw'r porthladd wedi bod yn gweithredu'n llawn ers mis Rhagfyr.

"Cafwyd llai o fasnach pasio heibio, felly mae angen i ni weld hynny'n cael ei adfer, a mynd gam ymhellach trwy alluogi'r porthladd i dyfu, fel gyda'r cyfle gwych a grëwyd gan bolisi porthladdoedd rhydd blaenorol Llywodraeth Geidwadol y DU.

"Er bod yr oedi hwn yn siomedig, rhaid cydnabod y gwaith aruthrol sydd wedi'i wneud i adfer y derfynfa ac ymrwymiad Stena Line i Ogledd Orllewin Cymru. Rwy'n gobeithio na fydd unrhyw oedi pellach."
