Janet Finch-Saunders MS has encouraged anyone who may be struggling with debt issues to come forward and receive the help that they need.

The Member of the Welsh Parliament for Aberconwy highlighted the annual campaign, run by debt charity Step Change, which offers free help, advice and support to people in debt.

The Debt Awareness Week campaign is running from the 20th to 26th of March, highlighting the guidance available to help those with debt-related issues.

Speaking today, Janet said:

“I’m very pleased to be raising awareness of this incredibly important campaign.

“As part of Debt Awareness Week, it’s vital that we break down the stigmas and stereotypes associated with debt problems.

“There is always the temptation to blame individuals for their own debt issues, however the reality can be far more complicated for so many people.

“Debt problems can happen to anyone, at any stage of their lives, for a wide variety of reasons.

“This has become a harsh reality for many, especially during the current cost-of-living crisis.

“I would urge everyone from across the community to reach out to those suffering in silence, and encourage them seek advice and support from organisations such as Step Change”.
